The Oudekerksplein ("Old Church's Square") is a square

in the centre of Amsterdam.

It is named after the 14th-century church Oude Kerk.

The Oudekerksplein lies at the heart of the red-light district of De Wallen.

De Wallen is the largest and best-known red-light district in Amsterdam.

On the Oudekerksplein is a statue titled "Belle",

honouring the Sex Workers.

On the plaque of this statue stands a fantastic text (in English):

"Respect sex workers all over the world"

Het Oudekerksplein is een plein in het centrum van Amsterdam.

Het is vernoemd naar de 14^e eeuwse Oude Kerk.

Het Oudekerksplein ligt in het hart van de rosse buurt van De Wallen.

De Wallen is het grootste en bekendste red light district in Amsterdam.

Op het Oudekerksplein is een standbeeld met de titel "Belle",

ter ere van de Sex Werkers.

Beltane

Beltane is the festival of love, which takes place on the evening
of April 30^th and the night of May 1^st. Beltane is a fertility festival.

This festival brings us the summer.
Livestock can after a long winter again outside.

The party has an exuberant nature.
People dancing with red and white ribbons around the Maypole.
These ribbons symbolize the breaking of virginity.

Beltane has the historical reputation to be the erotic time of the year.

The argument from Christianity against Beltane is based
on the exuberant nature of the festival
and the custom that young people stay out all night.

This gives young people the opportunity for outdoor sex
because there is no more supervision of parents, a priest or minister.

Beltane is het feest van de liefde, dit vindt plaats op de avond van
30 april en de nacht van 1 mei. Beltane is een vruchtbaarheidsfeest.

Met dit feest wordt de zomer binnen gehaald.
Het vee kan na een lange winterperiode weer naar buiten.
Het feest heeft een uitgelaten karakter.
De mensen dansen met rode en witte linten rond de meiboom.
Deze linten symboliseren het doorbreken van de maagdelijkheid.

Beltane heeft de historische reputatie de erotische tijd van het jaar te zijn.
Het bezwaar van het christendom tegen Beltane is gebaseerd
op het uitgelaten karakter van het feest
en de gewoonte dat de jongeren de hele nacht buiten blijven.
Dit geeft de jongeren de gelegenheid om buiten te vrijen
daar er geen toezicht meer is van de ouders of een geestelijke.
